Sisters philosophies of Nonviolence, Dining with Dignity, Gentle Personalism, Systemic Change, and Anti-Oppression inform each new program and the ways we organize for justice and human rights for all. In 1979, Genny Nelson, Sandy Gooch and the community in Old Town opened the doors to Sisters Of The Road, hoping that the idea they shared would catch on.  Thirty-five years later, we are still here, serving up amazing food five days a week with dignity, respect and friendship.  We can only do this work with the help of all of you who make the effort to be part of our community. Sharing the joy of the new year, we want to let you know that we surpassed our fundraising goal in the Together at the Table Matching Gift Challenge!

Together at the Table was a huge success this year!  We want to extend special thanks to our partners the Rose E. Tucker Foundation and the Collins Foundation for providing $34,000 in matching grants for our new donors.  We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Willamette Week for including us in their Give!Guide, and to everyone who donated through the Give!Guide putting us in their Top 10 of all the nonprofits.  An equally huge thanks to everyone who donated everything from a quarter to thousands of dollars. Every gift is so meaningful - we cannot do what we do without you.  We reached our “$350,000 for 35 years” goal for this challenge match, and then some.  With these funds we can do more to address the root causes of poverty and homelessness. Thank you again for believing in Sisters! Have a great 2015!
