Mustang Mountain Readies for Annual ACCESS Gators Track Meet and Day of Service
The time is upon us for our secondary students to swap out their purple and gold for purple and green in support of the annual ACCESS Gators Track Meet. On Wednesday, April 27, Mustang Mountain will welcome track athletes from the ACCESS Schools, a group of Little Rock schools for children and youths with learning disabilities.
The tradition of hosting the ACCESS Gators track meet began eight years ago after the Gators’ Special Olympics track meet was rained out. The school’s coaches arranged another meet on Mustang Mountain, and ever since, CAC’s secondary campus has turned out to flood the Gator athletes with support as they compete in their individual events.
Following the meet, secondary students will participate in the school’s third annual Day of Service. Groups will be transported to various nonprofit organizations in the community to spend the afternoon learning about the organizations’ missions and serving in ways ranging from repairing and recycling bikes to raking leaves at our community’s parks.
Secondary principal Jordan Collier said that while the few hours students spend serving is certainly beneficial to the local organizations, he hopes a seed is planted that God will nurture over time.

Q&A with senior
participating in the World Race this fall
Tell us about how you decided to pursue the World Race after graduation?
I thought about doing a work study before college, but a friend of mine introduced me to the World Race. She was the inspiration behind it. I really signed up without knowing what I was getting into. It wasn't until later that I realized this is a calling.
What kind of work will you be doing during your nine months abroad?
I’m going to three different countries: India, Malaysia and Zambia. We’ll be traveling throughout the countries, but wherever we are, we will focus on serving the community there. In some places, we will team up with full-time missionaries, and other times we’ll work in churches, orphanages, businesses — there will even be times when we’ll work in offices. So as much as I wish I would be playing with kids the whole time, we’ll be doing hard work too.
What kind of labor will those tasks involve?
We’ll be doing building projects. All of the charities you see doing things like collecting nuts and bolts for kids’ desks — those things they collect go to racers. We’ll be the ones on the ground using the nuts and bolts to assemble the desks. We’re the laborers behind the charities.
Of the three countries you will visit, which are you most excited about?
I’m really excited about Zambia because I’ve heard Coach Sullivan and other missionaries speak in chapel about serving in Africa. I’ve been involved in lots of charities that go there, and that’s just where my heart is. I choose this route solely based on Africa.

CAC’s faculty, development council members, board members and guests heard an encouraging message from author Gabe Lyons this past Tuesday, April 12 at the school’s spring development fundraiser, “An Evening at CAC.”
"Our daughter has been there since pre-K 3 and our son starts next year. We are so blessed to be part of such a wonderful school and have people who care for our kids like they are family."

The days of sending Track Attack letters may be over, but the Track Attack “fun day” is not! This year, instead of asking each student to send 10 letters to participate in Track Attack, we’re asking each family to make a donation toward CAC’s new annual fund, The Wish List. Your donation will go directly toward one of our three big projects: the NLR gym, the PV playground, or the secondary atrium.
So don’t delay, help your campus by clicking here to donate to The Wish List today!

Junior Tonie Butler competed at the Arkansas State Gymnastics Championship March 13 at UALR. Butler competed as a level nine gymnast, won first place on bars and floor, and was named the level nine all-around champion. She advanced to the regional competition in Denver, Colorado on April 9. Of the 59 contestants in her region three age group, Butler placed twelfth.
Congratulations, Tonie! We’re proud of you.
