EDUCATION + WORKFORCE

ATTENTION: Inactive Production Directory Listings Will Expire October 1
Beginning October 1, any current crew listings that have not been updated since 2019 with at least one new film/tv credit will become inactive and no longer appear publicly in the Oklahoma Production Directory. If you have made updates since 2019, no action is needed. If you haven’t, to ensure your listing does not become inactive, your updated crew listing must include new credit(s) manually entered (not updated on your uploaded resume) in the system that correspond to the department category and position in which you were employed.

Any new registrants (with the exception of apprentices and production assistants) will be required to have at least three credits within in the same department and/or position verifiable by a callsheet or production report before their listings will be approved.

If you have questions or need assistance with your listing, contact Yousef Kazemi, Production Manager for OF+MO, at Yousef.Kazemi@okcommerce.gov.

Cherokee Nation Breaks Ground on New Soundstage & Launches Rebranded Cherokee Film
The Cherokee Nation hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for a second soundstage facility to further expand their Cherokee Film Studios Owasso Campus, which houses the Nation’s cutting-edge XR virtual production LED volume studio. In addition to the existing 27,000 square foot facility, the newest building will house the tribe's second 10,000 square foot soundstage, which will feature full soundproofing, a modular truss system with chain hoists, 14-foot bay doors for load-ins, RV hookups for production trailers and more.
The Cherokee Nation also rolled out an expansion, reorganization and rebranding now collectively known as Cherokee Film, which includes four branches: Cherokee Film Productions, Cherokee Film Studios, Cherokee Film Commission and Cherokee Film Institute. Many congratulations to our partners at Cherokee Film!

Film Friendly: On the Road
OF+MO is seeking to engage on-location with leadership among statewide cities and towns to promote the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program and learn more about each community’s structure and development plans.
This month, OF+MO had the opportunity to liaison with leadership in the communities of Woodward, Guymon and Freedom, and provide valuable information on the overall film, television and music ecosystem in Oklahoma and how these communities can best position themselves for the future development of these industries in their regions. Many thanks to our local hosts: the City of Guymon, City of Woodward Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Mayor of Freedom.

To schedule a visit from OF+MO or learn more, contact Yousef Kazemi at Yousef.Kazemi@okcommerce.gov or complete this event speaker request form.

FEATURED LOCATION
Camp Y’Shua
Nestled on the northwest side of the Wichita Mountains, Camp Y’Shua is an annual summer youth ministry camp located near the film friendly City of Lawton in Southwest Oklahoma. This sprawling sanctuary features 160 acres of some of the region’s most breathtaking scenery, including mountains, valleys, ridges, creeks, trails and more with ample infrastructure on site among the camp’s traditional hosting facilities and accommodations. Permissions to utilize the property are subject to review based on the requesting production’s projected impact to the location, including alignment with previously scheduled events, environmental considerations and the mission of the camp itself. Camp Y’shua previously welcomed filming on the forthcoming feature film release from Kyle Roberts “What Rhymes with Reason” as well as a recent proof of concept short film for Kyle Kauwika Harris called “Charlie Mike”.
Many thanks to the owners of this property for sharing these images with us and for their support.
If you are interested in showcasing your community or featuring your location in the Oklahoma Locations Directory, please contact Yousef Kazemi at Yousef.Kazemi@OKCommerce.gov or visit our website for more information.
