Dr. Chau Le is our new Training Centre Manager! Chau has extensive experience program and operational management in higher education. In her most recent role, Chau led a team of science communicators to deliver engaging, curriculum aligned school outreach programs for the University of Sydney's Faculty of Science.

Chau has completed a PhD in Microbiology and throughout her professional career has focused on creating holistic student experience programs. She hopes to bring this experience to FLiQC and support our students through their journey.

Our PhD cohort is growing. We are pleased to welcome 3 more FLiQC students who recently started their journey with us. We look forward to seeing what they do over the course of their candidature and beyond!

Das recently presented two co-authored posters at IEEE Quantum Week in Toronto, Canada. He received valuable feedback on his research, attended talks and connected with researchers working in closely related areas.

Among these connections were Dr Reuben Demirdjian and Dr Mykhaylo Zayats, whose research within international industry organisations strongly aligns with Das’s own work.

Ryan recently published 'Fast Algorithms for Stoquastic Spin Systems'. 

This research advances our understanding of efficient algorithms for analysing complex quantum systems and their computational properties.

Congratulations to Chief Investigator, A/Prof. Ting Rei Tan and USYD colleague Prof. Ivan Kassal who won the Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scientific Research.  

Their work focuses on advancing the way quantum computers can simulate complex molecular functions! 

Dr. Danielle Holmes' new book: "Wonders of the Quantum World: Uncovering the Secrets of our Universe, Life on Earth and the Future of Technology" was released on 11 August 2026.

Book reviews have illustrated Danni's talent for bringing the quantum space to life with Dr Karl reflecting on his read: 'Quantum is "tricky" - but this book got me closer to understanding this wondrous world.'

A/Prof. John Bartholomew welcomed 10 News into the Quantum Circuits Laboratory, showcasing the potential of quantum technologies to tackle problems beyond the reach of today's computers.

Prof. Stephen Bartlett and Prof Andrew Doherty spoke with Geoff Pryde from PsiQuantum about building a photonic quantum computer and how fundamental research at UQ has evolved to underpin PsiQuantum’s efforts to develop a commercially useful, million-qubit quantum computer.

The conversation provided a valuable opportunity to explore how FLiQC and its industry partners can continue to contribute to the future of quantum computing.

As we head into our final quarter of 2026, we are looking forward to reviewing the applications from this scholarship round and continuing to engage with and support this dynamic community.
