| McKay Studies Flies for New Paper |
Dr. Tanja McKay, professor of entomology and department chair, is lead author of an article published in Southwestern Entomologist. The researchers collected more than 2,000 flies to determine if common non-biting flies on poultry farms can spread Campylobacter, a foodborne bacterium that commonly causes food poisoning. It is often linked to contaminated or undercooked poultry, making its control critical for food safety. Details are online.
