ETL is Coming to You! (with food & goodies!)

ETL wants to make sure you are ready for August 18th. We will be in buildings across campus to accompany you into the classrooms and assist with the technology. We will also have swag bags for you which will include the book Small Teaching by James Lang.

James Lang Workshops

Do You Use SMART Notebook in the Classroom?

This fall, Microsoft OneNote will replace SMART Notebook as the preferred digital note taking and annotation software at UAH. The free version of SMART Notebook (with limited features) will remain on classroom machines this fall.

SMART software will not be available in classrooms in 2022. To prepare for this transition, faculty are encouraged to begin using Microsoft OneNote for their note taking and annotation needs.

Reminders for Fall 2021

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare your Fall 2021 courses for delivery in Canvas:

If you do not see a course upon login to Canvas you may need to customize your course list so that your fall courses appear on your Dashboard.
If you would like to reuse content from a previous semester or master course you may import that content into your fall course.

NOTE: If you plan to import content from a course that previously used Zoom, please watch this video tutorial first!

If you would like to cross-list (merge) your courses, please contact Canvas Support for assistance.

Canvas support is available 24/7 via the Help link on the Canvas global navigation menu. Choose from the Email (Report a problem), Phone, or Chat options.
Panopto Support is available 24/7 by calling 855.765.2341.
Immediate Classroom Support is available by calling 256.824.7700.

Equipment Available in the Salmon Library

Need an iPad, a laptop, webcam, microphone or Wacom stylus/monitor to teach your course remotely? The library has a limited supply for you to check out for the semester as a faculty member. Here are the Salmon Library's instructions and information.

Maintaining Academic Continuity

As you prepare to deliver your course(s) this fall, make sure you have a clearly defined continuity plan. Continuity planning are the strategies and solutions outlined by an instructor for maintaining continuity of instruction for students should the regularly scheduled course be unexpectedly interrupted.

You never know when you will have to cancel class because of a broken leg (yours or someone close to you). Or the university might close due to the threat of bad weather. Or something else may disrupt the in-person delivery of your course.
