During Walk the Walk Week, Notre Dame partnered with four local organizations supporting after-school programming to help young people learn, grow, and feel supported beyond the school day. More than 350 Notre Dame students came together to assemble care and activity kits filled with school supplies, hygiene items, and handwritten notes for La Casa de Amistad, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor, Robinson Community Learning Center, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center.

Notre Dame research powers expansion of a poverty-ending model |
A poverty-reduction model backed by University of Notre Dame research is expanding through a new partnership between Catholic Charities Fort Worth and Goodwill Industries of Michiana. Developed with Notre Dame’s Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities, the Padua program has been rigorously studied and shown to improve employment, income, and housing stability for participants. By pairing long-term, individualized support with evidence-based practices, this collaboration brings a proven approach from research into real communities, helping families build lasting stability and economic opportunity.

Sparking curiosity at Science Alive

This month, Notre Dame was proud to sponsor Science Alive at the St. Joseph County Public Library, a free community event designed to make science exciting and accessible for all ages. Families packed the library to explore interactive exhibits, watch live demonstrations, and meet science enthusiasts from across the region. One of the highlights was Kate the Chemist, a Notre Dame professor who captivated young learners with high-energy experiments that made science feel both fun and approachable. Notre Dame Law School expands free immigration legal help |
The Law School at Notre Dame has begun taking on new clients at its Immigration Clinic, offering free legal help to people seeking support with US immigration issues. The clinic allows law students to work directly with immigrants under the guidance of licensed attorneys to provide legal advice and representation. A South Bend manufacturer is demonstrating the broader impact of tapping into the federal marketplace. After securing $2.25 million in government contract projects, CP Industries shared its lessons through Notre Dame’s ND US Competes program, helping other regional businesses better understand how to compete for federal work. By opening its playbook, the company is strengthening the local manufacturing ecosystem and supporting sustainable job growth across the South Bend–Elkhart region.
