Kevin Merriman Named CRL Director of Global Collections
The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is delighted to announce that Kevin Merriman, currently Director of Collection Management, Technical and Access Services, and Technology at the Marx Science and Social Science Library at Yale University, will join CRL in January 2024 as the Director of Global Collections. In this new senior leadership position, Merriman will work with the CRL Board of Directors, staff, and broad CRL community to renew and reinvigorate CRL's global collections activities. "The CRL Board of Directors and leadership are thrilled to fill this important senior leadership role at the Center for Research Libraries," said Greg Eow, CRL President. "We are fortunate to recruit a professional with Kevin's experience, expertise, and vision, and look forward to him building a team to scale CRL's global collections and related service models for CRL members."

CRL Board Announcement on Strengthening Global Collections
On behalf of the CRL Board of Directors, Chair Denise Stephens and Vice Chair Larry Alford shared an update on the current initiative to strengthen CRL’s global programs. At their recent autumn meeting, the CRL Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendations from the community-generated Sustainability Model to address mission alignment, fiscal management, and clear governance, by establishing the Global Collections Divisions to collectively build and steward global collections at CRL. Congratulations to NERL Steering Committee, Program Council Leaders
CRL is pleased to announce the following leadership for the new NERL Steering Committee and the NERL Program Council. The NERL community came together in 2022 to finalize its operational and governance structure as a cooperative program under the CRL organizational umbrella. Ashley Jester, Boston University, has been appointed as chair, and Kevin Garewal, University of Rochester Libraries, as vice chair of the NERL Steering Committee for the 2023-2024 term. The NERL Program Council elected Julie Linden, Yale University, as chair, and Virginia Martin, Duke University, as vice chair to work collaboratively with the NERL Steering Committee on supporting and advancing NERL's pursuit of changing the scholarly landscape.
