STARTING TODAY! Join STAR Net and the American Museum of Natural History for a Virtual Trip with the new Webb Telescope!

NASA@ My Library and the American Museum of Natural History are set to bring a livestream about the Webb Space Telescope to your library. What sets the Webb Space Telescope apart from other space telescopes and how will the mission extend our understanding of the Universe? Join presenters from the American Museum of Natural History on either evening for a live, virtual trip more than a million miles from Earth, to Webb’s future home in space.

STAR Net and Beanstack are Partnering to Bring You a New Challenge


We’re thrilled to announce a new Beanstack challenge open to all libraries in the U.S.! Beanstack is a reading and activities app that your patrons can use to participate in challenges. 

The NASA@ My Library challenge celebrates the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, which is currently scheduled for the month of December 2021. 

Throughout the challenge, readers will have access to virtual NASA@ My Library and NASA resources to gain new skills and explore educational and career pathways in Earth and Space Science. Participants will have a chance to win a collection of programming materials.

Deadline to sign up: November 30, 2021. 

NASA@ My Library, a reading and activities challenge, will run from December 1-31, 2021.

Here at STAR Net, we are always looking for new ways to engage library staff to bring STEAM learning to their communities. We rely heavily on the library expierence to create fun and engaging activities, resources, and opportunities. To accomplish this, we love hearing from library staff across the country, and value the perspectives you offer. 
That is why we are issuing a call for library staff to help us engage with others through our blogs on the STAR Net website. Former bloggers are welcomed to re-apply. Selected bloggers will recieve a contract for $500-$1,000 for 6 to 12 blog posts.
The STAR Library Network (STAR Net) is a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country. STAR Net focuses on helping library professionals build their STEM skills by providing “science-technology activities and resources” (STAR) and training to use those resources.
STAR Net is built upon a strong network of collaborators and partners, led by the Space Science Institute’s (SSI) National Center for Interactive Learning (NCIL). Partners include the American Library Association’s Public Programs Office, Collaborative Summer Library Program, Chief Officers of State Library Agencies, Lunar and Planetary Institute, Education Development Center, Twin Cities PBS (TPT), Institute for Learning Innovation (ILI), University of Colorado. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation, and the NASA Science Mission Directorate.
