University of Oregon
Dear Student Services and Enrollment Management Team,
I hope you are all doing well. I will be sending out regular emails to our division to keep all of you updated and informed about the work we are doing. Below are some exciting updates.
STAMPS Scholars:
I'm delighted to welcome our next class of Stamps Foundation scholars in the next few weeks. If you have not had a chance to read about these incredible students from across the country I sincerely hope you will. Thank you to all involved in helping make this class of scholars a great one.
University Health Center and University Counseling Center Expansion and Renovation:
The first phase of the University Health Center (UHC) and University Counseling Center Expansion and Renovation project is underway. Site fencing is up, site preparation is being completed, and demolition work is being done in the basement (though much of the basement is still operational). Excavation will start soon in the area where the new building addition will be located. This requires closure of the existing north accessibility ramp. In order to continue to provide ADA access to the Counseling Center and Testing Center (as their hours of operation differ from the UHC) and the UHC, a temporary ramp will be installed. Once completed, the perimeter fencing will be moved to the curb of East 13th Avenue and close off the current ramp. Entry through the north entrance will remain available through mid-December. The north entrance and temporary ramp will be closed over winter break for the duration of the project. Right now, the project is on schedule to be completed early winter 2020.
Oregon Hall Renovation and Moving Plans:
Renovations to Oregon Hall will be completed in the next few weeks. When final work is completed on the fourth floor, the offices of the Vice President and Student Orientation Programs will move into their newly renovated spaces. The Office of the Vice President will be closed September 17–18 during the move. Student Orientation Programs will be closed September 24–25 during their move from the Ford Alumni Center to Oregon Hall. The offices of Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Registrar moved into their new spaces on the second floor of Oregon Hall in July.  You can see these timelines on the ssem.uoregon.edu website.
New Websites:
Over the summer University Housing and the Testing Center launched new websites aimed at helping support students. I encourage you to check out information on both to learn more about the awesome work happening in these departments.
Twitter:
If you are on Twitter, I shamelessly welcome more followers to connect with me. Find me at @UOVP_Dr_T
Thank you for all the work you do in our division to support students and their families. Have a great week.
Sincerely,
Roger J. Thompson
