A Big Fall Semester for us and Montgomery College Workforce Development and Continuing Education!

We are very thankful for the privilege of connecting with each of you during this transformative year. We have learned so much about the organizations that have an incredible impact in our community. This year has been nothing short of extraordinary for our program, and your participation has been a vital part of that journey. As we reflect on what we have learned, we are developing more opportunities for learning in 2024 and beyond. You have made this year memorable and we look forward to creating stronger connections with you.

Montgomery College has been selected as a host site for the inaugural Class of Service Year Option and Maryland Corps members, a partnership with the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation.

The partnership was made possible by Gov. Wes Moore with support from leaders including Sen. Cheryl C. Kagan, Del. David Fraser-Hidalgo, and Del. Linda Foley.

The Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation is in its first year and is expanding service and volunteerism statewide, creating new pathways of service to meet community needs, enhancing workforce development, and promoting preparedness for both higher and vocational education. Roles at the host sites can range from academic tutoring, assisting in healthcare facilities, advancing public safety, to taking up environment conservation projects.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced five winners of the Make a Market Tech Challenge. The five student teams received a total of $15,000 for their innovative market assessments for new technologies developed by EPA researchers. Four of the five winners were Montgomery College students.
