Daroonparvar is Chair for Major Conference |
Dr. Mohammadreza (Reza) Daroonparvar, assistant professor of materials engineering, was selected as session chair for the Surface Engineering and Protective Coatings Symposium at IMAT 2026 (International Materials, Applications and Technologies Conference and Exposition) in Quebec City. He will provide leadership within the conference's technical program by facilitating discussions and coordinating presentations in the field of surface engineering and protective coatings.

| Shollenbarger and Brantley Co-Author Work |
Dr. Amy Shollenbarger, professor of communication disorders, and chair, and Dr. Shanon Brantley, director of the Parkinson Voice Project, co-authored an article in the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology. They identify 10 health literacy strategies that address both individual and organizational-level competencies. They also include more than 25 instructional activities designed to integrate these strategies into communication sciences and disorders coursework.

Donahue, Worm, Boves and Neuman-Lee Co-Author Study |
Graduate students Emily Donahue and Alex Worm, along with Dr. Lori Neuman-Lee, associate professor of physiology, and Dr. Than Boves, professor of ecology, are co-authors of a study in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety. The study investigated neonicotinoid insecticide residues in loggerhead shrikes from agricultural and non-agricultural regions in Arkansas. Despite finding that 80% of shrikes had detectable neonicotinoids, they found no significant associations between neonicotinoid presence and shrike health/fitness metrics (body condition, survival, reproductive success).

| Naderi’s Papers Offer Energy Use Options
|
Dr. Ehsan Naderi, assistant professor of electrical engineering, and program director, is author of two articles published in Electronics. In the first paper, he introduces an innovative framework that transforms Bitcoin mining facilities from a major electricity consumer into flexible and virtual energy storage units that stabilize power grids, integrate excess renewable energy, and strengthen protection against false data injection cyberattacks. In the second paper, he advances this concept for large-scale industrial applications.

Aghayeeabianeh has Encyclopedia Entries |
Dr. Banafsheh Aghayeeabianeh, assistant professor of sociology, is the author of two entries in a newly published encyclopedia. One of the articles addresses “Durkheim’s Anomie Theory,” while the second is titled “Ecological Theories.” Her two entries are published in the Sage Encyclopedia of Crime and Gender. The publication is an extensive survey of how gender affects law, crime and justice issues across various areas of the legal system.
