Light a Luminaria for “Take Back the Night”
|

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On Wednesday, April 13, we take back the night for survivors of sexual assault. Join us and show your support.
Wednesday, April 13, 6:30 p.m. in the Oak Grove
Chalk the Walk: 6:30–7:30 p.m. Join in to write messages of support and make signs (all materials provided).
Luminaria Lighting Ceremony: 7:30 p.m. Assist with the lighting of the luminaria and listen to words of support and available resources. 1,783 luminarias will be lit to represent and honor every survivor of sexual violence at IUP.
We recognize that sexual assault is difficult to talk about. Here are some resources if you would need to reach out.

How Do I Prepare for Finals?
The University College is hosting a Finals Prep Workshop on Wednesday, April 13, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and on Thursday, April 14, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in 126 Jane Leonard Hall. Stop by to learn strategies for studying for your upcoming final exams.

IUP Cheerleading is holding tryouts! Interested students should fill out the registration form. Any current IUP students or any upcoming IUP students are welcome to try out. It is recommended to have some experience with stunting for safety reasons.
Two Open Gyms will be held for students to practice their skills. These are not mandatory, but offer students an opportunity to practice before tryout day.
- Open Gym 1: Thursday, April 21, 5:00–7:00 p.m. in Zink Hall, Gym B
- Open Gym 2: Friday, April 22, 5:00–7:00 p.m. in Zink Hall, Gym B
Tryouts will take place on Saturday, April 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Zink Hall, Gym B.

Cheer on our Crimson Hawks Men’s Club Baseball on Saturday, April 9, at noon as they face Duquesne University in a doubleheader. Spectators can watch the game at 143 University Drive in Indiana. Weather pending, the teams will also compete on Sunday, April 10, at noon at Keystone Field at 498 Pike Road, Indiana. Talons Up!

Join the IUP Fashion Association tonight (Friday, April 8) for a fundraising fashion show inspired by the hit television show, Euphoria. All are invited to attend in McVitty Auditorium in Sprowls Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

All are invited to join RHA, ATOD/BACCHUS, and STATIC for this ever-popular event! Bingo winners will receive great prizes, and attendees will receive Drag Bags as a souvenir (first-come, first-served). The event starts tonight (Friday, April 8) at 6:00 p.m. in the HUB, Ohio Room. Free for all!

D2A2 is seeking nominations for the 2022 Ray Coppler Disability Awareness Award, which honors an IUP student (undergraduate or graduate) who has displayed exemplary contributions toward disability awareness and/or inclusion within the IUP community during this academic year. Fill out a nomination form online by Friday, April 15.

Circling Back After Making a Connection
After making a networking connection or finishing an interview, it’s important to follow up. This can include sending a handwritten thank-you note/email and/or requesting a connection via LinkedIn. Follow-up is crucial to building relationships and managing your job search process!

On Tuesday, April 12, Queer Conversations will hold a meeting at 5:00 p.m. in Elkin Hall’s Great Room. Any interested student is invited to attend. This week, the group will focus on the Day of Silence, a national student-led demonstration to protest the harmful effects of LGBTQ discrimination.
