Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) is pleased to formally announce the appointments of four new assistant professors who will lead research and education initiatives in the departments of Data Science and Informatics during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Assistant Professor Pan Xu in the Department of Computer Science has been honored with having two of his papers selected by the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), one of three primary conferences of high impact in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
In a remarkable achievement, Khiem Ton's paper on SGCode has been accepted for presentation at the prestigious 2024 ACM SIGSAC Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS '24), only one week into his Ph.D. program.
NJIT researchers, including Jason Wang from YWCC, have been awarded a $593,864 National Science Foundation grant to develop a new AI system for more quickly and accurately predicting when explosive space weather events on the Sun will strike, from solar flares to coronal mass ejections (CMEs).

Grace Wang Invited to Serve as Subject Matter Expert in AI by Dept. of Homeland Security
YWCC is proud to announce that Distinguished Professor Grace Wang was invited to serve as a Subject Matter Expert in AI for the SAGE program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, due to her "comprehensive, diverse, and impressive" experience in Artificial Intelligence. Her term is five years from 2024 to 2029.
Ribbon Cutting Opens New Dept. of Data Science Offices
On September 18th, Dean Jamie Payton led the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new offices of the Department of Data Science, which will accommodate 22 faculty and staff members.
