2023 Fall Compliance Training Deadline is Oct. 27 |
As a reminder, the deadline to complete the 2023 Fall Biannual Compliance Training is Friday, Oct. 27 at 11:59 p.m. All faculty, staff, and student employees who are active employees as of Sept. 18 are required to complete the training by the deadline. The training will take a little over one hour to complete. You can access the training at b.gatech.edu/genius.

Applications Now Open for Employee Educational Assistance Programs |
Georgia Tech offers several educational assistance programs to further the professional development and growth of employees. The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and the Staff Tuition Reimbursement Assistance Program (STRAP) application period is open Oct. 15 – Nov. 15 for spring classes.

Lisa Yaszek, Regents' Professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, features in "Designing the Future," an interview with award-winning Afrofuturist artist John Jennings for The Nib, a daily comics publication focused on political cartoons, graphic journalism, essays, and current affairs. Yaszek, a foundational figure in Afrofuturist scholarship, is the only academic Jennings cites in the piece.

Mayra Pineda-Torres, assistant professor in the School of Economics, has been named a 2023 Changemaker in Family Planning. The award from the Society of Family Planning includes a research grant and is given to scholars of color working in the area of family planning.

Margaret Kosal, an associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, was invited to speak at the 2023 Royal Society Neural Interfaces Summit in London, England. Kosal presented on “Emerging Neurotechnologies and the Future of Warfare.”

Victoria Chang, the Margaret T. and Henry C. Bourne, Jr. Chair in Poetry in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, was invited to join U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, former Bourne Chair Ilya Kaminsky, and other poets for an event celebrating art and poetry at the National Gallery of Art in Washington. Chang spoke about her commissioned poem on a sculpture by artist Anne Truitt.
