Welcome to week three of UACS Cyber Summer Camps & PYN Internships; how time flies! We are excited to share some updates and highlights from our summer programming with you this week. If you havn't gotten involved yet but still want to, enrollment for UACS Cyber Summer Camps will continue on a rolling basis. You can find links to the enrollment applications for each UACS site in this newsletter!

Camp Highlight: Wacky Wednesdays with Mr. Malik!
Mr. Malik's Trolls-inspired wacky attire was a hit! Students and parents also impressed us with their wacky outfits, which included Ava's hot dog costume, Khalil's tutu and crown, a Disney princess, and more! City-Wide Updates

This July, the City of Phildelphia has a number of important updates for residents.


Rental Assistance

The city, with the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation (PHDC), is extending the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program. To learn more about the program and view the application, click here


Water Shutoff Protection

The city has extended it's water shutoff protection measure until August 31st. For more information about the extension, paying bills, or applying for assistance, click here 


Parks & Rec Safety

Philadelphia's Parks & Rec summer day camps opened with care on July 6th, and the Department of Public Health has compiled a quick list of guidelines to keep children and families safe this summer. To view the full article, click below.

Penn Updates

Penn Today sat down with Penn's Chief Wellness Officer Dr. Benoit Dubé to discuss the University's plan to start the fall semester with a hybrid model, which will mix in-person and remote learning according to healh and safety considerations. The conversation focuses on how this plan will impact the health of students, faculty, and staff, and ways in which the University must remain  flexible in this period. School District of Philadelphia Updates

Since schools closed in March, the SDP has been collecting feedback from students, parents, educators, and community members on topics such as health and safety, learning models, operations, workforce considerations, and timeilne. To submit your own feedback on any of these topics and more, click here

Calling All Parents! 

Two seniors at Penn want to learn about parents' experiences navigating different types of schools in different neighborhoods, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are currently looking for parents to be interviewed who live in Philadelphia and who have children in grades K-8. Parents with children in public schools and some charter schools are eligible to receive a $50 gift card as a thank you for their participation! To learn more about the study, click here

WorkReady and Career Exposure Internships
Attention rising 7th-12th graders! 
We know many enrolled interns are still working on submitting all the necessary paperwork to PYN. If you have already completed an online application and have questions or need support with the next steps of the enrollment process, please email us at netter-pyn@sas.upenn.edu

Students signed up for our High School WorkReady Programs can also visit open office hours with Mr. Joe for support. Office hours will be held daily from 3-5pm.
