Dr. Tina Peterman named Interim Dean of College of Education
Dr. Tina Peterman has been named as the Interim Dean of the College of Education. Dr. Peterman completed her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Psychology in 2003 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has been in higher education at public institutions for 18 years, and in academic leadership positions for the past seven years including most recently as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at COE. Her new post begins July 1. Read more about Dr. Peterman’s appointment at PSU News. Dr. Amanda Sugimoto, presently the Interim Associate Dean, will become the permanent Associate Dean of the College of Education.

PSU’s Ed Washington sheds light on Portland's dark history
Ed Washington, the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement in the office of Global Diversity and Inclusion at Portland State, recently recounted his personal experience of surviving the devastating Vanport flood of 1948. In an interview with The Oregonian, Washington shared his reflections on the prevalent segregation and prejudice that plagued Portland during that era. His story is featured in an article titled “Flooded and Forgotten,” which is part of a series called “Publishing Prejudice.” This series delves into the newspaper's historical involvement in perpetuating racist narratives.

The artwork of former PSU professor Jim Hibbard is on display through August 12 at the Hallie Ford Art Museum on the campus of Willamette University in Salem. Hibbard passed away last year.
