Peter Brecke, Seymour E. Goodman, Cheryl Leggon, and David Shook retired from the Ivan Allen College this summer after a combined 113 years of service to the Institute. Their teaching, research, and service work broadly impacted the IAC community, and their presence at the College will be missed.

Cassidy Sugimoto (Public Policy) delivered the keynote address at Chulalongkorn University’s conference on “Digital Approaches in Humanities towards Sustainable Human Capital Development” in Bangkok. Her presentation on “The Vital Relationship Between STEM and the Humanities” discussed how digital humanities serves as a template for knowledge production at the intersection of STEM and the humanities.

Andy McNeil (Public Policy) has been selected for the inaugural Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance IP Leadership Development Program, recognizing his contributions to research, practice, and education in intellectual property.

Priti Bhatia, director of facilities and capital planning, has been selected to join the Urban Land Institute Atlanta’s Center for Leadership Class of 2025. She will engage with industry leaders to explore urban and infrastructure planning, design and construction, and policies and procedures, as well as how these impact sector planning of Georgia Tech in the context of Atlanta urban planning and development.

Postdoctoral fellow Thomas González Roberts (International Affairs) spoke at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research Outer Space Security Conference in Geneva. He discussed the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Compliance Assessment Monitor, a tool he developed that assesses whether satellite operators around the world are complying with ITU Radio Regulations. The tool is being integrated into the Wayfinder platform developed by Privateer.

Join DramaTech for its first show of the season, opening this Friday. Orbital Debris is a love story. Scott is an aerospace engineering grad student at Georgia Tech. Claire sells jams she makes from mayhaw berries. After staking out the same flea market every Sunday, their meeting on the other side of Atlanta is entirely random. They don’t so much connect as they collide. Tickets are $10.

Thriving Hive is a biweekly virtual forum where Georgia Tech faculty and staff can meet with mental health professionals to discuss ways to support the mental health of students. Attendees can ask general questions, request consultation about a specific concern, and get additional information about mental health topics and resources. Faculty and staff can attend as many sessions as they would like and do not have to stay for the entire meeting. Each meeting is limited to 10 participants, and registration for each meeting will end one week before the session date.
Please note: In order to protect our students’ confidentiality, no personally identifiable student information should be shared in the meeting.
