100 Years of Intramural Sports

Wellness and Recreation takes an in-depth look back at the history of the intramural sports program as it celebrates its 100-year anniversary this year. Established by John F. Miller in 1924, intramural sports has helped students to enjoy their college experience, foster community spirit and alleviate stress.

Naval ROTC Hosts JROTC Competition
 
On Jan. 27, the Naval ROTC unit at NC State had the honor of hosting an area-level “brain brawl” competition. These are jeopardy-like competitions where contestants buzz in to answer questions about naval science, pop culture and other topics.

Vote Early at NC State
 
From Feb. 15 to March 2, those who are registered to vote in Wake County — including NC State students, faculty and staff — can cast their ballot in the U.S. primary elections at Talley Student Union. You can also register on site.
 
 
 
 
Google Quota Compliance

Starting in November 2024, Google will enforce storage limits, and the university will be required to reduce its Google Workspace storage consumption. An initial notification has been emailed to all DASA employees who currently exceed the University’s Google Quota. This email contains a summary of usage by product and information about the initial steps faculty and staff can take as they begin cleaning up their NC State Google Accounts.

  • The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) will make its re-accreditation visit to NC State March 25-28. For more information about the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), see this flyer!
  • Wellness and Recreation offers free yoga for students, faculty and staff.
  • On Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 12-1 p.m., Lesley-Ann Noel, an assistant professor of media arts, design and technology will serve as the key note speaker for Staff Senate’s Learn at Lunch Wellness Webinar, “Design Social Change.”
  • The Staff Senate Community Service and Engagement Committee is sponsoring a book drive to benefit the Prison Books Collective (PBC) running through March 28.
  • University Theatre’s Workshop Series will host two Costume Crafting Nights sessions at 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Feb 27. in Frank Thompson Hall.
  • Three exhibitions are open at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design: “Leading by Design,” “Selections from the Collections” and “The Art of John Mark Hall.”
  • The Department of Performing Arts and Technology offers a free dance master class to NC State faculty, staff and students.
  • Registration is now open for Summer Music Camps for high school students, operated by the Department of Performing Arts and Technology. See the details for day camps in music technology, music production and drum major leadership.
  • Remind your students that submissions for the Student Art Sale are due March 31.
  • April 5 is the deadline for all technology purchases.
