MA Board Considering Change to Trails Management

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association Board of Directors is considering changing the way the open space trails are managed. A proposal regarding trails management was written by residents Dan Mullins and Jeff Lyslo. Dan is a member of the Master Association Board, but he did not draft the proposal on behalf of the Board. The proposal suggests not hiring a full-time staff member to replace Cory Mensen, who resigned as Trails Specialist in the fall of 2015. Instead, trail construction and maintenance would be performed by Trail Club volunteers and external contractors. You can read more information about the proposal on the News page of our website. The Master Association Board discussed the proposal at its Jan. 19 Board meeting. Staff was directed to work with Dan and Jeff on the specifics of the plan and present them to the Board at its Feb. 9 meeting. If you have any comments regarding the proposal, please direct them to Open Space Manager Sean Warren at seanw@kcranch.org or Master Association Executive Director Chris Pacetti at chrisp@kcranch.org.

Bond Project Update

The Dakota Lodge addition now has walls and a roof! This new section, shown in the top photo, will add approximately 1,650 square feet of multi-purpose rental space to the building. The bottom photo shows the new enclosed corridor at the Ranch House that will connect the north and south ends of the building.

Spring Break Camp Options

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District offers Spring Break Camp options for preschoolers through school-age kids. Public registration for Spring Break Camp begins Feb. 16. The following options are available:

Three Metro District Board Seats Open for Election in May

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District (KCRMD) will hold its regular biennial Board of Directors election on Tuesday, May 3. The KCRMD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, each of whom serves four-year terms. The Director positions currently held by Lauri Lehan-Milano, Jami Jensen and Jeff Esbenshade will be up for re-election at the May 3 election. The terms for current Directors David Banning and Bob Generoli run until May of 2018. The May 3 election will be conducted via mail ballot with ballots scheduled to be mailed out in April. All ballots must be returned to the Designated Election Official by no later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3. In order to serve on the KCRMD Board, an individual must either reside or own property within the District and be a registered voter in the state of Colorado. Individuals interested in running for a four-year term on the KCRMD Board need to complete a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form. The completed form must be submitted to the Designated Election Official, Sue Blair, c/o Community Resource Services of Colorado, 7995 Prentice Avenue, Suite 103E, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. Sue Blair can be reached at 303-381-4960 with questions or for additional information. Please contact KCRMD District Manager Darrell Windes at 303-979-1876, ext. 114, or darrellw@kcranch.org with any questions or for more information.
