The GVSU 2023 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition has concluded. This year's winners are Karina White, Autumn Cannon, and Emily Bemben. There are also two People's Choice winners: Autumn Cannon and Dolly Kellogg. You can check out photos and a video highlight of the event on our 3MT website. The Graduate Student Association is now hosting the 2023-2024 Executive Board Elections! You can cast your ballot from now until 12:01 a.m. on Friday, March 17. Winners will be announced the same day by 12:00 p.m. EST.
Aside from graduate coursework, you should also aim to build your network and develop professional skills. The PACES program is here to help you succeed in all of these and more! The next workshop in the Winter 2023 Lunch and Learn Series will be about Mentorship. This VIRTUAL session will be hosted on March 24, from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m., via Zoom. You can register for the session on our PACES website.
The end of the semester is approaching, and so is the Winter 2023 Graduate School Citation Awards! We are seeking nominations from Lakers graduating in the Winter or Spring/Summer 2023 semesters that want to highlight faculty members that demonstrate inclusion, outstanding mentorship, or outstanding teaching. All nominations must be completed and sent to gradschool@gvsu.edu by the end of the day on March 27. Details about the awards and nomination form can be found on The Graduate School website. Faculty and students will be recognized at the event, which will take place on April 14, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., in Loosemore Auditorium.
Another event that is coming up is the Winter 2023 Graduate Showcase. Highly exceptional work done by graduate students from all disciplines will be presented. The event will be hosted on April 18, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., in Hager-Lubbers Exhibition Hall. Graduate students graduating in Winter 2023 or Spring/Summer 2023 are welcome to connect with your Graduate Program Director or Faculty Advisor to be included in the nominations, which are due March 27, 2023.
Finally, we would like to recognize Marlee Busalacchi, from the Biomedical Sciences program. Marlee had the opportunity to present a poster of her research from GVSU's Renkema Lab at the 2023 Midwinter Conference of Immunologists. Marlee was awarded the Ray Owen Poster Award for this work.
