Hello everyone!
I’m Nicole Schlechter, and I am the new President of NAM. This is a huge honor for me, and I can’t thank you all enough for this opportunity. I first joined NAM just when I was starting up my practice in OB/Gyn, fresh out of residency, back in 1994. I sat on the Board from 2009 to 2015, and loved that experience. When I left private practice in late 2019 to become CMO at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown, it seemed like the perfect time to dive back into NAM activities, so I agreed to step in as President-elect. And then came COVID. What a strange, stressful and frankly scary time this has been.
With the advent of the vaccine, I have to admit to some optimism, so let’s be optimistic and look forward to this, our Bicentennial year of the Nashville Academy of Medicine. It really is something to celebrate. We will be doing some special things throughout the year to commemorate our bicentennial. PLEASE hold on to October 2nd for our gala event. It is going to be fabulous, and I can’t wait to dress up and socialize with you all in person!!!!!
The Nashville Academy of Medicine hosts more than 30 meetings and events each year to engage our members at all levels. We are currently offering a special anniversary incentive for new members to join NAM and TMA with a 75% discount for 2021. I would love to see each NAM member find one colleague who will join us this year as a new member for our 200th Anniversary Celebration! What a great way and time to grow our membership and community.
Divisive politics….global pandemic…..there are a lot of distractions right now. But NAM remains focused on our goal of supporting physicians and practices to provide quality medicine and good health to the people of Nashville and the surrounding communities. Let’s remain focused on that goal, together, we can do this.
With gratitude,
