As a new student, navigating campus life for the very first time can be challenging. Therefore, knowing the people and offices eager to support you can set you up for a successful first semester!
In this Navigator, we will connect you with the Academic Learning & Tutoring Center and Success Coaching, just a few of the many resources here to keep you on track for success this semester. Plus, we will highlight leadership opportunities and upcoming events, including the Reading Project Keynote Lecture and the TUgether for Mental Health campaign.

The Academic Learning & Tutoring Center (ALTC) is your partner for academic success. Whether you are looking for a place to study between classes or an opportunity to ask questions of a peer who excelled in the course when they were enrolled, the ALTC can help!
|
All in-person tutoring appointments, writing coaching sessions, and the Math Center drop-in hours happen in the Learning Studio, located in the basement of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, Suite B01. The ALTC is open Sunday-Thursday from 9am-7pm.

It's never too early or too late to seek out Success Coaching! Using a strengths-based approach and a belief that every student learns and processes information differently, Success Coaches can explore topics such as goal setting, motivation, note-taking, organization, study skills, time management, and so much more!
|
You can also meet with a Peer Success Leader (PSL) and connect with someone who understands what you are going through first-hand. PSLs are available to meet in person or via Zoom.

Continue your engagement of the common read at the 2024 Kylene & Brad Beers Reading Project Keynote Lecture: Friendships in Adulthood. This year’s lecture features one of the world’s leading experts in human connection, Dr. Marisa G. Franco. An enlightening psychologist, New York Times bestselling author, and TED speaker, Franco is known for digesting and communicating science in ways that resonate deeply enough with people to change their lives.
The lecture will take place from 6-7pm on Monday, September 9th in The Village Theater. Doors open at 5:30pm!

The TUgether for Mental Health campaign invites Tulanians to come together to reduce stigma through education, learn new ways to support one another, and build a stronger campus community. This includes starting conversations with our friends, colleagues, and community about the ways mental health show up in our lives and how we can support one another every day and in times of crisis. Hosted by Newcomb-Tulane College every month, Front Porch Friday provides students the opportunity to listen to music, sample local food, and connect with various NTC departments.

Fund Your Passions with NTC
Friday, September 6th | 12-1pm | Richardson Building 115
Do you have a research project or other academic opportunity that you need help funding? This year, nearly $100,000 in grant money is available to all full-time undergraduates for academic projects, research, participation in conferences, summer internships, and much more. Hear about successful projects from recent grant recipients, and learn more about applying for grant funding from Newcomb-Tulane College.

A new era of global justice and cultural diplomacy in social justice!
The Aurora Leadership Academy is a leadership development program for first-year students who have an interest in social activism. Aurora will provide a survey-level introduction to a broad spectrum of issues in the social justice arena and connect participants to organizations and advocates working on the Tulane campus and throughout the New Orleans local community.
