Community Spotlight: GVSU Student Senate Give Thanks Initiative

Food Drive Graphic
Julian Sanders and the GVSU Student Senate are leading the Give Thanks Initiative to give back to the GVSU community. The initiative involves bringing the entire community together to support fellow Lakers and show that giving does not just take place during the holidays. Julian’s goal was to begin the semester with a great initiative that could support students with what they need to continue their success at GVSU.

If you are interested in donating food, please drop off your donations at the box located at the 2020 desk or the Office of Student Life. All proceeds are being donated to GVSU Replenish.

COVID Vaccination Clinic Volunteers

The West Michigan Vaccine Clinic at DeVos Place has successfully vaccinated 8,000 people from throughout our area that currently meet the State of Michigan requirements for the COVID-19 vaccine.
GVSU is looking for volunteers to ensure the vaccination process is well staffed to deliver a positive and safe experience.
When the vaccine is available for the clinic to open at full capacity, approximately 150 volunteers are needed per 4-hour shift. Volunteers may assist with greeting clinic attendees, providing directional assistance, escorting attendees who need help, sanitizing and organizing supplies, performing temperature checks and more.

Upcoming Events

Roger That! Conference

Friday, February 19th and Saturday, February 20th, 2021 (virtual)

Roger That! is a celebration of space exploration in honor of Roger B. Chaffee. Join us to hear from a tremendous assortment of speakers from different disciplines and perspectives, including meteor scientists, engineers, artists, experts on virtual reality, physicists, space collection curators, an astronaut, and a one-of-a-kind live presentation of the 1925 German film "Our Heavenly Bodies" accompanied by the Grand Rapids Public Museum's Wurlitzer Organ. Our virtuous presenters will create an alternate reality online - one that we hope will more than make up for our inability to meet in person.
