The popular video conferencing app Zoom is now officially available to the GW community. This includes a basic integration with Blackboard. We put together a handy guide that goes through how to add Zoom to your course, schedule meetings, start meetings, and pull reports. New Voicethread Assignment Builder
Voicethread has upgraded their Assignment feature to allow for greater instructor control of settings, meaning students no longer have to remember to share their Voicethreads with the class, for example. You can turn it on for a course now if you want to give it a try, but it will be turned on for all courses in June 2021.
Get Students Involved in Course Design
Have you always thought students should have more say in their curriculum? This Educause article describes how one institution partnered with students to redesign courses in their medical program. Four themes emerged from the experience. Students reported:
Actively participating in reshaping their medical education
Becoming trusted medical education leaders through participating in national conferences, accreditation meetings, and design meetings
Developing critical skill sets relevant to their profession
Fostering mentor-mentee relationships
