Crafting a Competitive Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Application
Tuesday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m. in University Hall, ECC 1857
Fulbright ETA Programs place grantees in elementary schools, secondary schools, or in universities overseas to supplement local English language instruction & to provide a native speaker presence in the classrooms for 9-10 months. 

Learn how teaching English abroad during the 2019-20 academic year can support a wide range of career goals and how to craft a competitive application package. Juniors, graduating seniors, and current graduate students are encouraged to attend. Register here.

All or Multiple Disciplines 
Educators For Fair Consideration (E4FC) Fellowships- Deadline: May 1. At Educators For Fair Consideration we believe education is the key to personal transformation. The opportunity to learn, whether it is in a classroom, at a job site or in other forms, gives individuals agency to improve their own lives. However, undocumented young people have limited access to professional development programs that offer hands-on experience while fostering community building and peer-support. E4FC offers fellowships to develop the leadership capacity of undocumented young people. Fellows benefit from career training, mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to educate and empower the undocumented community.

The National Council of Jewish Women/ Los Angeles (NCJW/LA) Scholarships- Deadline: May 1. The NCJW/LA Scholarship Program is designed to ease the financial burden of people who are trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. Their recipients have ranged from survivors of domestic violence to single fathers to first generation college students. Interested applicants must live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. Applicants do not have to be Jewish to apply.

China Educational Association of International Exchange (CEAIE) Program- Deadline: May 7. The aim of the program is to promote language exchange and mutual understanding among young people at home and abroad, and to improve foreign language education in Chinese schools. As a result, CEAIE is eager to attract native English speakers. CEAIE participants will provide the training for those without TEFL certification and round-trip transportation to China and back. After the initial 12 months, there may also be the opportunity to continue on as an educator in China. They seek applications from a diverse range of qualified teachers and welcome applications from candidates majoring in Education and English language study or with teaching experience will be highly competitive. There is a preference for candidates who have traveled overseas, and a high preference for those with extensive teaching experience.

School of Education
Prospective Middle School Mathematics Teacher Course Work Scholarship- Deadline: May 4. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to college or university students preparing for teaching middle school mathematics. One scholarship, with a maximum value of $3,000, will be awarded to a person currently completing their junior year of college or university, scheduling for full-time study at a four- or five-year college or university in the next academic year, and pursuing a career goal of becoming a certified teacher of middle school mathematics.
Other Notable Opportunities
Los Angeles County Arts Summer Internship Program- Deadline: May or when positions are filled. Apply ASAP. The Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program provides 10-week, full-time paid summer internships in nonprofit performing, presenting, literary and municipal arts organizations to eligible undergraduate college students. All majors welcome and students may apply to multiple positions. 

Public Service Weekend – George Washington University- NextGen Leadership: Ethics and Practice- Deadline: April 30. This free, three day conference (Friday June 15, 2018 – Sunday, June 17, 2018) will assist in preparing future leaders to deal with ethical issues and highlight the practical skills needed to succeed in public service at home and abroad. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, a legal permanent resident, or qualify for the DREAM Act. Open to rising undergraduate juniors, seniors and traditionally underrepresented students are strongly encouraged to apply.
