PSU’s entertainment venue proposal moves forward
Portland State advanced to the next round of consideration for its proposal to replace the aging and seismically-unsound Keller Auditorium with a world-class entertainment venue on downtown property owned by PSU. Next steps include a cost analysis, community engagement and an interview with the City Council. Become a campus advocate for suicide prevention
Care. Ask. Connect. is a one-hour asynchronous training course created by SHAC, the School of Social Work, PSU students, and Aedin Powell Media to increase awareness around suicide prevention and mental health — and cultivate a culture of compassion at PSU. Consider including the course in your syllabus as extra credit or an alternative assignment. Additional supplemental models will come soon, with support focused on military-affiliated students, autistic students, LGBTQIA2S+ students, and international students.

Direct students to the Learning Center for help with finals
Finals are almost here! Set your students up for success by letting them know they can meet with an academic coach or peer tutor from the Learning Center to set goals and discuss study strategies. Learning Center services are free and open to all students. Faculty and staff can also submit a request for our ROADS to Success presentation series on topics such as motivation, time management, and study strategies to be presented in your classes.

PSU Opera presents: "Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant"
The game's afoot! A giant is dead, and his body lies at the base of a great beanstalk. The police believe young Jack is responsible but the boy insists that he's innocent, and begs the help of the great detective Sherlock Holmes and his colleague, Dr. Watson. Can they untangle this magical mystery? In this operatic mystery for all ages, Holmes turns to a magic harp for clues that come in the form of musical quotes from opera greats, all cleverly woven into the plot. PSU's production of 'Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant' is the second-ever presentation of this new opera. Performing Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 2-3 at Lincoln Hall Studio Theater. Tickets are $20-$45.

Glory awaits! Register for the faculty/staff dodgeball tourney
Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge! The annual Faculty/Staff Dodgeball Tournament hosted by Campus Rec is on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 4 - 6 p.m. Eight teams of five players can compete. Each team will play a warm-up game before the single-elimination tournament begins. Free and open to all PSU faculty and staff. No Campus Rec membership required. Register as a team or a free agent by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Bridge City battle and Teddy Bear Toss
Cheer on PSU’s men’s basketball team as they take on the University of Portland Pilots on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at Viking Pavilion. Bring a stuffed animal to toss on the court for the second-annual Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss and receive a voucher for discounted admission to a future Vikings basketball game. Faculty and staff can purchase discounted tickets.

News Briefs and Announcements: - Today, PSU announced the Oregon Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health and Aging, through a partnership with Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
- The American Indian Science and Engineering Society named PSU the Professional Chapter of the Year for achievements in advancing indigenous people in STEM fields.
- PSU joined the Common App’s direct admissions program, making a college education more accessible for first-generation and low and middle-income students.
