Annual ReNew the New cleanup event on the New River coming on Sept. 14 |
|
|
The Radford University Office of Sustainability and the City of Radford will host the annual ReNew the New cleanup event on the New River on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at Shelter 3 in Radford’s Bisset Park. Lunch and T-shirts will be provided for participants.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in our community and help clean up the New River, one of the world’s oldest rivers. The ReNew the New event spans from West Virginia to North Carolina, and the City of Radford is just one of many cleanup sites.
Pre-registration is recommended at https://renewthenew.org/events/fall-into-the-new-radford-2024/.
Your participation in this event is important because Radford University is gearing up for the third annual Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) report, a program of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
An institution’s STARS score is publicly available and is based on the percentage of applicable points earned in credits across four main categories: academics, engagement, operations, and planning and administration. This report is used as a comparison tool between colleges and universities and serves as the basis for The Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges.
Radford University currently has a silver rating, and we’re only steps away from gold. If you participate in ReNew the New, you can help us reach our goal of gold.
