"In our lab, emphasis lies in harnessing cells from diverse resources such as bacteria, yeasts, insects and plants and programming them to generate specific ingredients for various food and feed applications," Dr. Ovissipour explains.

The prospect of a career in food science didn’t initially cross her mind until her father pointed it out. Kimmy explained, "after looking into it, food science sounded like everything I could’ve wanted in a career, so I found the Food Science and Technology program at Texas A&M and dove right in!"

The TAMU Food Science Club meets Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The club is open to all majors and features meetings with industry professionals as well as opportunities to network, socialize and volunteer.

Texas A&M University's National Center for Electron Beam Research hosts the top eBeam and X-ray technology workshop April 15 - April 19, 2024. The workshop will provide practical information on eBeam and X-ray technologies, how to adopt these technologies, and hands-on eBeam dose mapping and dosimetry exercises.
