Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
I would like to share that, effective July 1, Lisa DeLuca, M.P.A., M.L.I.S., will serve as Interim Dean of University Libraries.
Honored with the President's Award for Student Service earlier this year, Lisa DeLuca has been a valued member of the Library team for the past 12 years, most recently serving as Assistant Dean since 2022 and liaison to Academic Affairs since 2023. She brings significant experience, institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to supporting the teaching, research, and service mission of the University. I am grateful that Lisa has agreed to take on this leadership role during this transition period.
Please join me in welcoming Lisa DeLuca as Interim Dean of University Libraries and in supporting the Library team as they continue their important work on behalf of our students, faculty, and the broader University community.
I would also like to thank Dean John Buschman for his many years of visionary leadership in the University Libraries. Dean Buschman will be taking a well-earned sabbatical next year.

Ruth Tsuria, Ph.D., Presents “Jewish Uses of Artificial Intelligence: Understanding religious Jewish users’ attitudes and uses of Generative AI”
Ruth Tsuria, Ph.D., associate professor at the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media, received a 2025 University Research Council award for the project titled “Jewish Uses of Artificial Intelligence: Understanding religious Jewish users’ attitudes and uses of Generative AI”. This project examines the uses of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) by religious Jews, with the goal of writing a book chapter for an edited volume on religion and AI. Tsuria notes that GenAI tools, such as ChatGPT, can generate content based on users’ prompts, and that there is a need for empirical research on their real-world impacts, particularly among religious minorities. Professor Tsuria presented this project at the Faculty Research Showcase during the 2026 Petersheim Exposition.
