Digital Preservation Efforts for Centenarian Setonian
Martha Slomczeweski, special collections assistant, writes about the approaching 100th Anniversary of The Setonian, which has been thriving since March 15th, 1924. To honor this important milestone, last semester, Archives & Special Collections and the Gallery began digitizing the entire archive of the newspaper, back to the founding issue. Long maintained on microfilm, the modernized collection will be accessible by Seton Hall students, faculty, and the general public as well.

Senior Michael Manners’ Research Examines Social Media Misinformation
Last summer, Seton Hall senior Michael Manners, a Diplomacy and Economics double major, took part in a 9-week residential research experience at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies (iSchool). Manners’ project, called “Information Diffusion on Reddit: A Study of the Wagner Insurrection”, analyzed information spread in relation to the abortive insurrection and coup led by the mercenary Wagner Group against the Russian state at the end of June 2023. Introduced to Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs by School of Diplomacy professor Joseph Huddleston, Ph.D. and Politics, Policy and Data Librarian Michael Murphy, Manners' study and results led to acceptance in Syracuse's graduate program.
