Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
We’re pleased to share two important opportunities: the sabbatical application process and the ACUE interest form.
Sabbaticals offer faculty time to advance their scholarly work. Applications must be submitted through Faculty Success, with eligibility demonstrated according to the Faculty Guide.
Sabbaticals are awarded for a specific year applied, and deferrals require additional approval. The number of sabbaticals awarded each year depends on the University's financial situation and resources, though the primary criteria will continue to be the relative scholarly merit and impact of the project. Faculty should carefully consider whether a one-semester or a full-year sabbatical best suits their project’s needs, as the merits of the project will be evaluated in relation to its proposed duration. Once accepted, sabbaticals must be completed as approved.

August 12, 2025: Sabbatical Application Acknowledgment Form Submit this form to indicate that you are anticipating submitting a Sabbatical Application. Based on the information provided, you will be sent the link to the application in Faculty Success. If you have questions regarding this form, please contact Kaerielle Larsen (kaerielle.larsen@shu.edu) in the Office of the Provost.
- October 1, 2025: Application due to your department. The deadline for submitting the application to the school or department for a sabbatical is October 1 of the year preceding the academic year in which the leave is to be taken.
After the Sabbatical: A report must be submitted to your department, Dean, and the Provost via Faculty Success. A sabbatical is considered a serious investment on the part of all concerned, so faculty are encouraged to prepare a detailed report in a professional style, suitable for presentation to internal and external audiences.
Faculty interested in applying for a sabbatical should first review the full application procedures, then submit the acknowledgment form. We look forward to receiving and reviewing your proposals.
As part of our ongoing commitment to instructional excellence and student success, we are pleased to continue our partnership with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), to offer faculty the opportunity to participate in the Effective Teaching Practices course during the 2025–26 academic year. This course equips faculty with evidence-based strategies, validated by independent research, that improve student achievement and help close equity gaps.
ACUE follows a cohort model for this 25-week course, with all participants beginning in September 2025 and ending in May 2025. The course is fully online with content delivered in an asynchronous and video-rich format facilitated by ACUE. All interested faculty should complete the ACUE Interest Form by August 10 in order to schedule an info session. Please note that the cohort is limited to 33 participants - Click here to learn more about the program.

Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton |
Yesterday, members of our Seton Hall community took part in a meaningful pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The day included a peaceful Mass in the Basilica and engaging tours of the museum, historic buildings, and cemetery. Participants reflected on the life, work, and canonization of Mother Seton in the very spaces where she lived, taught, and served. Thank you to all who joined and to Nicole Giglia, Fr. Nick Sertich and all others who made helped make this memorable and inspiring visit possible.
