Opioid Call to Action
Amend SB2257/HB 1831Sen. Mark Norris (R- Collierville) and Rep. David Hawk (R- Greeneville)
The prescription drug abuse epidemic is the most serious public health crisis facing our state. However, the prescribing aspect of this bill needs major revisions in order to allow doctors to safely and effectively treat patients.  The bill as filed segregates and labels patients, dictating treatment with little to no regard for conditions or comorbidities. Proposed limits on prescribing creates a confusing tiered system that codifies the standard of care and leaves no room for medical judgment.  Click here to log in and send your message.
Tuesday, April 10 - Educational Meeting
Join NAM and member Bob Neaderthal, MD on Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. at NAM's office for an educational session on getting effective prior authorization and avoiding peer to peer calls.

During this session, Dr. Neaderthal will teach attendees how to avoid prior authorization calls for advanced imaging studies such as CT, MRI, PET scans and nuclear cardiac tests.  Prior authorization and peer-to-peer calls have become two of the most cumbersome and time-consuming administrative burdens that providers face in their practices every day and most peer-to-peer calls are avoidable.  Click here for more information or click here to RSVP.
Looming deadline may negatively impact your bottom line
We have recently received data from CMS that indicates a considerable percentage of Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS)-eligible clinicians in our region have not yet submitted data for the 2017 reporting period. If eligible clinicians miss the March 31, 2018 deadline, then CMS will begin applying a negative payment adjustment to each claim beginning January 1, 2019.
