Five student artists were named Director's Choice selections: Ashley Bearup, of Grant High School; Kaino Johansen, of Fremont High School; Kaylee Rathbun, of Fremont Middle School; Jonathan Soto, of Newaygo High School; and Jessica Tikkanen, of Hesperia High School.
In addition, 21 Senior Honors, 30 Outstanding Recognition for High School, and 20 Outstanding Recognition for Middle School were recognized.
“I chose artwork that revealed a bit more individuality of the artist above and beyond the basic requirements of the assignment,” said Timothy Norris, the guest judge, an artist who co-owns Kook’s Eye Gallery in Pentwater, and a Muskegon Community College Art Department faculty member.
