Faculty/staff parking permits for the 2026-2027 academic year are now available for purchase via payroll deduction online in the KU Parking portal. Permits may be purchased with a credit card after July 1, 2026. Please take a few minutes to read through this entire email before making a purchase.
|
The Parking Commission approved a 2.7% price increase to annual and semester permit prices for the 2026-27 year. These increases are reflected below.
|
PERMITS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY RENEW. If you paid for a permit via payroll deduction in 2025-26, it will expire on 7/31/2026, with deductions ending 8/14/2026.
If you want a permit for the 2026-2027 academic year, you will need to actively select a permit option and choose payroll deduction during the process. The very last step of the purchase process is titled “Order Details.” On that page, you must click “checkout” again for the process to be completed. If you do not receive an email receipt, please contact Transportation Services by emailing kupark@ku.edu or calling 785-864-7275.
Payroll deduction is only available for annual permits.
If you qualify for payroll deduction and wish to enroll in payroll deduction, you may do so at any time until 4/30/27.
Before you enroll in payroll deduction, review the options below for shorter-term, less expensive permits.
Once selected, payroll deduction cannot be stopped during the academic year unless you leave KU.
2026-27 deductions will start with the 8/28/26 check. Deductions for academic year staff (nine-month appointees) will start with the 10/9/26 check and end with the 4/24/27 pay cycle (check date 5/7/27).
By purchasing a permit you are agreeing to abide by the Parking Rules and Regulations of the university. Permit holders are prohibited from lending or otherwise allowing anyone else to use their permit.
Please review your license plate information carefully. Kansas issued new license plates to many residents last year, so your plate number may have changed. If you did receive a new plate, you should delete the car with the old plate and add the car back to your account with the new plate information before completing your purchase.
There is more information about permit prices and deduction amounts on our website.

If you want to pay by credit card for an annual or semester permit, you can start doing so after July 1, 2026, with the new fiscal year. This includes permits for Retirees.
|
Due to loss of parking spaces, we are pleased to be bringing back the lower priced Park & Ride permit. Bus routes will operate days when classes are in session.
|
-
There will be two Park & Ride zones. Lot 302 will be sold first, then Lot 300 B & C when lot 302 is sold out.
|
We continue to offer short-term options that will allow you to periodically park on campus, as needed. Any of these permits that you currently have must be used by July 31, 2026.
|
- Permits are valid for the number of stated uses. Parking on any given day constitutes one use.
- Available in Gold, Blue, Red, and Yellow (qualification restrictions apply).
-
You will need to activate your daily permit in the parking portal each day you plan to use it, or in advance. When you make your purchase, you will receive instructions on how to activate the permit for the specific day(s) you want to use it.
- Permits expire July 31, 2027, with no refunds for unused days.
-
Failure to activate the permit when you park on campus or parking in a zone other than where your daily permit is valid will result in a parking citation and the reduction in available days by one.
- Not available on payroll deduction.
|
- Daily permits can be purchased online through the KU Parking portal.
-
Available in Gold, Blue, Red, Yellow, Housing, and parking garages (qualification restrictions apply).
- Dates must be specified.
- A maximum of five days can be purchased at a time.
- No limit on number of purchases.
- No refunds on purchases.

If you are not sure what type of permit you’ll need to start, we recommend purchasing a daily permit as needed. The 15- and 30-use permits for 2026-27 will be available starting August 1.
Daily permits packs for 25-26 are no longer available – purchasing a prorated annual permit is less expensive at this time.
|
Faculty and Staff will be allowed to purchase up a level again this year. The availability of this option will continue to be evaluated annually.
|
Motorcycle permits ($91/year or $30/year if you have also purchased a car parking permit) are available on payroll deduction. Deduction amounts are listed in the table above.
Please submit your purchase request via this form.
|
Retiree permits will be available to purchase in the portal starting July 1. A separate email will be sent when the portal opens.
Annual permits will be $116.
Daily permits will cost $2/day for retirees starting August 1.
|
Parking enforcement will continue throughout the summer in Gold, Blue and Red lots, and in the parking garages.
Yellow zones are restricted when classes are in session, including summer, and will be open and free to park July 25 – August 24.
Green zones are also open throughout the summer until August 24.
