A tip of the IRW cap as Media General's CW affiliate WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis) Assistant Chief Engineer Tom Weber retires, after 40 years in broadcast engineering. Congratulations and best wishes!
Creative Data Management's Talk simulcast WXLW (950am, Indianapolis) and Pilgrim Communications' WFDM-FM (95.9fm, Franklin) replaces Laura Ingraham's syndicated show (which ended) with Glenn Beck (9am until Noon). Here's the complete "Freedom 95" schedule.
Westcentral
In 1969, Tom McClanahan joined CBS affiliate/WTHI-TV (Channel 10, Terre Haute) while attending Indiana State University. By 1971, Mr. McClanahan graduated ISU and followed his boss to NBC affiliate/WTWO-TV (Channel 2, Terre Haute). Typical of small market TV, Mr. McClanahan tried nearly everything: videographer, reporter, weekend anchor, sports director, and advertising sales. In 1992, Mr. McClanahan returned to WTWO and succeeded the late Johnny Palmer as news anchor, and briefly adding News Director leadership in the early 2000s.
Succeeding Mr. McClanahan will be weekday late evening anchor Mike Tank, who will now be seen at 5:00pm, 6:00pm and 11:00pm.
Southeast
Veteran Country/WSCH (99.3fm, Aurora) broadcaster Bob Shannon passed away on New Year's Day after battling cancer. Mr. Shannon was 70 years old and a broadcaster for over 40 years. In late 1970, Mr. Shannon joined WSCH about the time it signed on the air for the first time. There will be no public memorial service for Shannon, but memorials may be made in his name to PAWS of Dearborn County or the Dearborn County Historical Society. Here's more from the "Eagle 99.3" website.
Southcentral
Mitchell Community Broadcast Company's Rock/WPHZ (102.5fm, Orleans) went all-holiday music and ended 2018 by flipping format to AC as "102.5 Lite FM." Both weekday and weekend mornings feature John Tesh's "Intelligence For Your Life", along with high school sports (Mitchell High School Bluejackets).
Southwest
Bayou City Broadcasting's CBS and FOX affiliates WEVV-TV (CBS on 44.1, FOX on 44.2) News Director Warren Korff exits after almost three years.
