Brebeuf Jesuit Will Host the Special Olympics of Indiana's Annual Eunice Kennedy Shriver Games this Sunday

Brebeuf Jesuit is ecstatic to once again welcome the Special Olympics athletes making the trip to Indianapolis for state-level competitions on September 9.
Delegations representing 51 Special Olympics county programs from across the state will participate in the organization’s annual Eunice Kennedy Shriver (EKS) Games, named in honor of the founder of Special Olympics. A total of 2,306 athletes with intellectual disabilities are registered for one or more of the events such as corn toss, volleyball, and flag football.
The 2018 EKS Games begin Sunday, September 9 on our campus, where athletes, coaches, and partners will take part in state competitions beginning at 9:00 a.m. and running until 6:00 p.m.
A few exciting additions will be present at the 2018 Games including All-Star Soccer, Individual Skills, and the “Run Unified” relay race. The “Run Unified” relay teams will consist of Special Olympics athletes, Brebeuf students and faculty members, and representatives of our local law enforcement. The goal of this event if for our community to rally together to honor the mission of the Special Olympics movement and for funds to be raised for Special Olympics Indiana. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and we ask that you consider making a donation to this incredible not-for-profit organization here
Approximately 400 Brebeuf Jesuit students will be volunteering at the event, led the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT)—which annually works with Special Olympics Indiana staff to plan and execute all facets of the day. The SALT members would like to encourage everyone to experience this impactful and one-of-a-kind event and to come support the competing athletes.

Help Us Reach Our Philanthropy Week Goal Tomorrow

All week long we have been highlighting philanthropy’s important role at Brebeuf Jesuit and tomorrow we celebrate the greatest day of Philanthropy Week, Giving Day—the day to make your gift to Brebeuf Jesuit!
Tomorrow, we celebrate two of the core elements that are critical to our learning community – our rich tradition of educating men and women for others and the loyal, generous donors who bring that tradition to life.
Join in the celebration by making your gift to The Brebeuf Fund!  The Brebeuf Fund provides Brebeuf Jesuit faculty and staff the necessary resources to put our core values into action – with exceptional academics and teaching, spiritual growth opportunities, financial aid scholarships for those in need, and supporting the operations of buildings, grounds and campus.  Every gift to The Brebeuf Fund has the power to enhance the experience of ALL Brebeuf Jesuit students.
Help us reach our goal of 200 donors celebrating Giving Day by making your gift to the Brebeuf Fund!
Gifts received now until September 7 will be counted towards our #BrebeufGives Philanthropy Week totals.
You can also celebrate Giving Day by sharing pictures in your Brebeuf gear or telling the world what it means to you to be a part of the Brebeuf Jesuit community on social media with #BrebeufGives!

Loves About Brebeuf
What ISN’T there to love about Brebeuf? The students, the teachers, the curriculum, all of which are just fantastic. I have had so many experiences with so many different people here and a new experience everyday just makes the next one even better. My favorite thing is the fact that I am able to know practically anyone I see when I pass them in the halls.
Favorite Class
My favorite class would have to be AP Physics with Mr. Rott. The class itself was very tough, but Mr. Rott made it so enjoyable that I miss it more and more everyday.
Future Plans
I have literally no idea about college. I am very far behind, but I am looking at numerous places. I do know that I want to go into medicine.

Random Facts
I broke my neck 3 times: I fell off a chair when I was one, I fell off a bed when I was three, and my cousin threw me into a shelf at Toys “R” Us when I was six.
I have been to over 20 countries.
I have my own company, Saidration.
I have been to Utah.
I have 67 allergies.
Where would you travel if time and money weren’t an issue?
Little Rock, Arkansas. Who doesn’t want to go there?
What are some small things that make your day better?
Being able to know everyone I walk past and being able to have a conversation with them makes any bad day immediately better.
So far, the best part of being a senior is...
Being able to leave during the day, and being a role model for all the new freshmen at Brebeuf.

#BrebeufDrives

#BrebeufDrives will return next week with our first collection! For our fall drive, Brebeuf is partnering with the Newcomer Program.
The Newcomer Program is an IPS school serving students that are recent immigrants to the United States. This includes refugees and unaccompanied minors.  A focus of the program involves teaching academic English, as well as supporting the students' personal and emotional development.  Because so many of the students in the school lack basic necessities, the Newcomer Program relies on community partners to provide families with basic needs such as food and hygiene items.
This fall, we will be collecting toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and soap to donate to the students at Newcomer.
Donations can be left in Main Lobby in the collection box starting Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 21.

St. Luke Catholic Church Fall Fest

Brebeuf Jesuit is again sponsoring St. Luke’s Fall Fest!  This year's event takes place on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 3:00-10:00 p.m.
St. Luke's Fall Fest will include kids activities, an Adventure Zone, food, live music, bingo and a beer and wine tent.

Brebeuf Jesuit Mentorship Project

This fall, Brebeuf Jesuit will be renewing our partnership with Nora Elementary School for our Mentors Program. The program will pair high school students with students in third through fifth grade in need of a relationship with a mentor. Throughout the year, Brebeuf Jesuit students will take their mentees on both fun and educational trips around the city. We have found this service initiative to be an opportunity that tremendously benefits both the students from Nora Elementary and Brebeuf Jesuit.
Applications are available in the Community Service Office and should be returned to Mr. Klingler by Friday, September 14.
Please contact Nick Klingler with any questions about the program.
