Wishes for a meaningful Memorial Day!
Â
This week, we'll be highlighting programs that are available to your incoming students. These programs are a fantastic way for your student to find a home here at AU and meet peers with similar interests. You'll see the advertisements for these programs below, and we hope you'll share these opportunities with your New Eagles.
Â
We'll also be sharing and overviewing how you will be able to access the billing portal for your students. You will not be able to access this portal until your student grants you proxy access, so make sure you're having these conversations with your students if you'll be helping them with their AU bills. Once you've been granted proxy access, you can follow the steps below to view the billing portal.
Â
Your students have received instructions on setting up proxy access in their newsletter this week, which has been sent to their AU emails. It'll be important for your Eagles to be checking their student emails consistently over the course of the summer.

Each year, Hillel runs a special peer mentorship program for freshmen and transfer students called First Year Students of Hillel (FYSH). Incoming students are matched with returning students who share their interests or hobbies. These peer mentors help new students get acclimated to life at AU and get involved with the campus Jewish community.
We conduct a variety of programs specifically designed to engage new students and to facilitate relationship-building between new students and their mentors. Past FYSH events have included Shabbat bagel brunches, sushi-making, softball games, and service projects.
Our staff routinely hear from first-year students that the FYSH program made their transition to college easier, and many FYSH participants remain close friends with their mentors years later!

| Virtual: July 8 - 24, 2024
Startup and Standout is a two-week long online/virtual celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation. Through entrepreneurship panels, workshops, and our Startup & Standout Solution Slam Pitch Competition (for $10,000 cash), AU students learn from, interact with, and become confident, impactful entrepreneurs. The program is designed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance, and to encourage risk-taking and problem-solving. Â
Through the Startup & Standout Solution Slam Pitch Competition, you will work in teams of three to four students to identify a pressing social problem and create a solution to benefit society.
You’ll develop your new idea into a two-minute video pitch for a new product or service designed to make meaningful change, and you’ll submit that video online. Judges from the AU Community will select the finalists. The top three finishers will share $10,000 in prize money!Â

đź’¸ If you are helping your student with their American University billing, your student will have to grant you proxy access to their records. Your students have received instructions on how to complete this step in this week's newsletter, but they can also find out how to complete this on the New Student Checklist.
Once your student has completed the steps of giving you proxy access, the steps you'll follow to access their records are:Â
|
-
Sign into Eagle Service with your user-name and password that are provided by email that the student has set up.
-
Select your student's name to access their account. Please note, you must select the Student Name to make payment on the students account . Do not select the Parent Name (You) to make payments for the student.
|
For more information on how to access records as a parent and helpful resources to navigating the billing portal, you can read more here.
