Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
|
As we find ourselves in the midst of Spring Break, I hope this week is offering you a meaningful opportunity to pause from the steady rhythm of the semester. Whether you are traveling, spending time with family and friends, catching up on reading, or simply enjoying a quieter campus, I hope these days provide genuine rest and renewal.
|
The work of our faculty, staff and administrators is both demanding and deeply important. Moments like this are essential – not only for restoration, but also for reflection as we look ahead to the second half of the semester with renewed focus and energy.
|
For those who remain on campus or continue essential responsibilities this week, please know how much your presence and dedication are appreciated. Your work ensures that our students and our University continue to move forward even during quieter periods.
|
I wish you continued rest and safe travels for the remainder of the week. I look forward to reconnecting as a community when classes resume.

Exploring AI Tools in Compass: Supporting Students & Saving Time
|
- Enhance student support: AI tools in Compass can help identify students who may need outreach earlier and support more personalized, timely engagement.
-
Save time on routine tasks: AI can assist with drafting messages, summarizing notes, and organizing information—freeing up more time for meaningful faculty-student interactions.
- Be proactive, not reactive: Use AI-driven insights to prioritize outreach and focus efforts where they can have the greatest impact.
-
Support teaching and advising goals: These tools are designed to complement (not replace) faculty expertise and judgment.
-
Start small and explore: Even simple uses can make a difference. Faculty are encouraged to explore ways AI can support their workflows and student success, informed by guidance from EAB.

⭐ Compass Super User of the Week
This week, we’re highlighting, Victor Velarde-Mayol, in the School of Theology, for being an early adopter of AI tools in Compass. By exploring new ways to use AI-supported features, you can streamline outreach, prioritize student support, and save valuable time—while still keeping meaningful, personal connections with students at the center of their work. Thank you, Victor, for your willingness to explore, innovate, and model how thoughtful use of AI in Compass can support both faculty efficiency and student success!
