This message was sent by the UO Academic Council today to all faculty and GEs, asking them to consider responding to students with flexibility and empathy. The council and the UO provost feel that faculty will be responsive, but note that it’s possible some instructors won’t make all suggested modifications.

If you’re struggling to keep up with your classes, the Office of the Dean of Students offers drop-in hours Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Call 541-346-3216 if you need support.
The University Counseling Center offers multiple options for services for students in Eugene and elsewhere. Call 541-346-3227 to schedule in-person, teletherapy, and consultation appointments, or to speak with a mental health professional immediately. Drop-in services are also available; see website for hours.
The Steve Fund, an organization focused on supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of young people of color, has a 24/7 Crisis Text Line. Text STEVE to 741741 to connect with a culturally trained crisis counselor.
The Institute for the Study and Promotion of Race and Culture at Boston College has created a Racial Trauma Toolkit to help communities of Color manage post trauma symptoms.
The Community for Minorities in STEM is hosting an open conversation about the recent death of George Floyd at the hands of police and the subsequent protests tomorrow, June 5, noon–1:00 p.m. Sign up required.
