Dear Friends,
As we come to the close of another year at Arkansas State, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thank you to the members of our staff. It is my honour to work with you on our primary mission of fulfilling the educational goals of our students. And yes, we all greatly appreciate the big efforts – recovering from a snow or ice day, cleaning up after a thunderstorm blows down trees, or setting up for one of our large-scale events like Homecoming.
What Beth and I also notice are the small acts of grace from our staff members. The kind word to a student in need. Taking an extra moment to fix a problem for a faculty member. Having a smile and helping someone who might be lost on campus. These efforts by all of you help define us as a warm, welcoming community.
Mark your calendars for these upcoming events to celebrate our staff.
Staff Appreciation Picnic
This Wednesday is the annual Staff Appreciation Picnic hosted by the Staff Senate, and like last year, we are going to have it inside First National Bank Arena from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also like last year, I am granting a two-hour leave to allow all staff members to attend, but extending the hours of the picnic so that staffs that need to stagger attendance to cover front desks and phones can all get the chance to participate.
Distinguished Performance Awards & Service Recognition Ceremony
The annual Distinguished Performance Awards and Service Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14. Join us as we recognize the staff that go above and beyond, as well as members of the staff that will be retiring over the next year.
In closing, Beth and I want to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve alongside you. You help ensure that we fulfill our mission that Every Red Wolf Counts and we are proud to be your colleagues.
