Dear Authorized Payers,
We understand that navigating your student’s college experience can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether this is your first time supporting a student in college or you’ve been through it before. At UC San Diego, we’re here to make the process as smooth as possible. As we head into Winter Quarter, here are some key updates and friendly reminders to keep things on track.
1. Important Dates to Remember
- December 3, 2024: Registration and Tuition e-bill available through TritonPay.
- December 20, 2024: Registration and Tuition e-bill deadline.
-
January 6, 2025: Financial aid refunds begin processing.
For other important dates, such as the deadline to waive your health insurance (if you have not for Fall Quarter), the last day to enroll in TRIP, or when financial aid disburses, please review the quarterly billing newsletter.
Helpful Tip: Check your student’s account to ensure all balances are paid by December 20 to avoid registration holds.
Another Helpful Tip: Make sure your student is signed up for direct deposit. It’s the fastest and most secure way to receive refunds, avoiding delays from mailed checks.

2. Easy Ways to Pay
We’ve made paying for college as straightforward as possible:
- Online Payments: Use TritonPay to pay by eCheck, credit card, or 529 electronic transfer.
-
Installment Plan (TRIP): Break tuition and fees into three manageable monthly payments. Just remember, you’ll need to re-enroll each quarter, and there’s a $40 up front enrollment fee each quarter. To get the most out of TRIP, please be sure to enroll before the registration and tuition e-bill deadline for the Winter Quarter (December 20th).
-
International Payments: If you’re paying from outside the U.S., we partner with Transfermate, Flywire, and Convera to make it simple. Note, it takes 5-10 business days for UC San Diego to receive the funds once you complete the necessary steps with your bank. Payments in "pending" status means funds have not been received by the University and student may be at risk at being dropped if funds are not received by Monday, January 8. Submit your payment as soon as possible to avoid delays.

3. 1098-T Tax Forms: Save Time, Stay Secure!
The 1098-T tax form, which helps with claiming education tax credits, will be available in early February 2025. Opting for electronic delivery is the fastest, most secure way to access the form, and it provides additional details not included in the paper version.
Here’s why electronic delivery is a great option:
- Faster Access: Receive the form as soon as it’s available, without waiting for mail delivery.
- More Information: The electronic version includes an itemized breakdown of all transactions.
- Convenience: Access the form online anytime, from anywhere.
- Eco-Friendly: Reduce unnecessary paper waste and support sustainability.
Encourage your student to opt in for electronic delivery today to prepare for tax season.
Students can find information about opting-in for electronic delivery here.
4. Winter Quarter Prep: Helpful Tips
There’s a lot to juggle, so here are some quick reminders:
-
Housing & Dining: Review Holiday Hours of operations and closures.
- Transportation: Encourage them to check Triton Transit schedules or purchase a parking permit if needed.
-
Books & Supplies: Ordering textbooks early can save time and stress before classes start.
5. Plan Ahead: Holiday Campus Closure
Our campus will be closed for the holidays from December 24, 2024, through January 1, 2025. For additional holiday business hours for our office, please visit our webpage with our business hours listed.
While administrative offices, including Student Financial Solutions, will be closed, most online tools like billing, payments, and direct deposit setup (for students) will remain available.
If you have any questions or need assistance, we encourage you to please contact us before the holiday closure. We’re here to help ensure everything is squared away so you can relax over the break!
We’re Here to Support You
We are here for you and committed to helping you manage the financial aspects of their education. Thank you for partnering with us to support your student’s success.
Together, we’ll make Winter Quarter a great one!
Warm regards,
