During his 30 years of military service in the US Marine Corps, Frankie Farmakis witnessed the differences across international health care systems and was exposed to cultural contexts across the globe. In this next chapter of his career, Farmakis applies these experiences to the field of nursing.

Learn about the practice of Verbal Aikido® in this introductory session hosted by Sarah Atif, University Ombuds Office. Verbal Aikido® is an effective and peaceful means to deal with verbal attacks and negativity. VA practice aims at creating a safe space to gradually engage in conflict, to understand conflict dynamics and look at the constructive side of conflict.

Voting for Staff Council Now Open |
Staff Council elections for the 2024-26 term are now open. Classified Staff, A/P Faculty, research staff, and wage staff are eligible to vote. Since this newsletter goes to more than Staff, the link to vote is not included. Find the link to vote in an email to be sent by Lisa Joyner this week.
Voting closes on Monday, December 9 at 5 pm. Elected Staff Council members will be announced the afternoon of December 13.
Bylaws
Remember, Staff Council cannot officially operate until the bylaws are ratified. Vote to ratify the bylaws. Vote today!

Participants may walk anywhere, anytime, within the weekly time frames, counting their steps, and then report their CPH unit affiliation along with the steps they’ve walked.
At the end of the semester, the unit with the most steps (proportionally) will be awarded a prize and take the trophy! Report your steps by noon on the Monday after each Monday-through-Sunday challenge week.
Report November 4 - 10 steps by 12:00 pm TODAY, November 11.
