Let's jump back into this story about iHeart and EMF exchanging translators. There's more to this story. As a reminder, EMF is Educational Media Foundation, home of "K-Love" and "Air-1" Christian music formats.
In this transaction, EMF swapped specific iHeart translators that iHeart programmed, mostly with a hip hop or urban format. EMF wasn't comfortable with those formats, so they swapped iHeart for several other translators (including the 97.5fm, Indianapolis translator). That's part one.
Part two pertains specifically to the 97.5fm translator that previously aired a simulcast of iHeart's FOX Sports/WNDE (1260am, Indianapolis). When the 97.5fm translator came on the air in Indianapolis, the FCC mandated that the 97.5fm translator must remain a simulcast of 1260am for 4 years. That 4 year span recently ended. After it ended, iHeart moved the 'primary station' of this 97.5fm translator from WNDE to WOLT-HD3 (103.3fm).
Last week, iHeart flipped the translator from a stunt format, redirecting listeners to WNDE for Sports. 97.5fm goes CHR as "Kiss FM". On-air talent is primarily voice tracked from other iHeart radio markets.

Finally, Kiss FM becomes the third Indianapolis CHR, alongside Cumulus' WZPL (99.5fm, Greenfield) and Radio One's WNOW-FM (100.9fm, Speedway).
Director of Engineering Joe Boehnlein exits University of Indianapolis' Classical-Jazz/WICR (88.7fm, Indianapolis) and joins Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting's NPR affiliate/WFYI-FM (90.1fm, Indianapolis) as afternoon drive host during NPR's All Things Considered. Mr. Boehnlein continues teaching at UIndy (adjunct faculty member) and also continues producing and hosting "A Blast From the Past." (as "Joe Bainline")
I admit, this next story made me scratch my head. I'm familiar with "All In with Chris Hayes" on cable network MSNBC. Recently, an Indianapolis radio and TV station (unrelated to each other) have both announced shows named All IN:
Matt Pelsor recently began hosting "All IN" on Indianapolis Public Broadcasting's NPR affiliate/WFYI-FM (90.1fm, Indianapolis), and the station plans on expanding later this year. Right now, the show airs on WFYI each Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00pm. On September 30, the show will also air on participating Indiana public broadcasting radio stations. "The show will be rooted in hearing from and about people who affect public policy," WFYI Chief Content Officer Matt Shafer Powell said. "We'll have the full resources of IPB News to help deliver up-to-date information from all over Indiana, and we have a lifelong Hoosier with keen insights and natural curiosity that we think will keep listeners fully engaged."
Nexstar Media Group’s CW affiliate WISH (Channel 8, Indianapolis) recently announced they will begin a local news-talk show All IN, airing at 4:00pm weekdays. WISH anchor Phil Sanchez and Annessa Chumbley will co-host the one-hour program. All IN, will recap the day’s events in what WISH-TV calls “a uniquely different style.”
