Black Women Building Economic Power and Eradicating Economic Injustice
Women have suffered significant economic losses during the coronavirus pandemic. More than 1.4 million have left the workforce in the past year, causing their numbers to drop to the lowest point in more than 30 years to 57% percent. Black women workers and entrepreneurs have suffered a large brunt of that blow, seeing more than 150,000 Black women workers pushed out of the workforce due to an overrepresentation in certain fields.
The organizers of the 10th Annual Black Women's Roundtable will tackle this discussion head on in a panel discussion today in a session entitled "Black Women Building Economic Power and Eradicating Economic Injustice" at 4 pm ET. Jessica Bergeron, Senior Vice President of HOPE Innovation and Learning, will be representing Operation HOPE during the session and will discuss the mission of HOPE and how One Million Black Businesses, powered by HOPE and Shopify, is working to reverse the effects of the pandemic on Black women entrepreneurship and increase economic empowerment in the Black community.
