Please Join Us for Our West Fork Carson River Prioritization Project Community Meeting
Tuesday, January 20
5:30-7:00 p.m.
Turtle Rock Park Community Center
Please don’t miss this opportunity to hear about the assessment results of the West Fork Carson River watershed as well as the prioritized projects that have been identified by AWG’s consultant. Throughout the presentation there will be opportunities for members of the public to ask questions and provide feedback. Our discussion will inform the draft findings report.
In 2022 AWG applied for funding from the State Water Board’s Nonpoint Source Pollution Grant Program to complete a geomorphological assessment, sediment budget, and project prioritization plan for the Upper West Fork Carson River watershed. Carson Water Subconservancy District provided the required 25% matching funds. The West Fork Carson River Vision Plan explained that this planning project would “provide further insight into which reaches, or possibly which tributaries, would be the most beneficial to restore in terms of water quality improvements.” AWG’s consultant, Waterways Consulting, Inc., is completing this project in coming months, and the findings report will guide AWG's restoration work in the Upper West Fork Carson River watershed for years to come—supporting AWG and other partners in pursuing implementation funding for priority projects. Identified projects could improve water quality, fish habitat, meadow health, and stream function.

Join Us in Welcoming Kelci Brown!
AWG is thrilled to introduce our new Watershed Projects Coordinator Kelci Brown. We are excited to add another member to our team who is an Alpine County resident. Kelci will be working part time for AWG in this newly-created position. She will help AWG move forward with restoration projects, and she will lead community outreach for AWG’s partnership in the Alpine-Amador-Calaveras-Tuolumne Natural and Working Lands Hub.
