It’s been nearly two months since hundreds in the Boulder community came together to launch the next phase of climate action. We appreciate all who gave their time to attend and we are excited to turn this momentum into action. Here’s an important update on our next steps together.
Community-Centered Approach
A common theme has emerged from your input so far: a desire for the city to stretch beyond the limits of a traditional government-heavy process and instead embrace engagement and planning efforts that center the core principles of equity and resilience.
We listened, and now we’re acting to address your input.
First, we’re pleased to report that we’ll be taking more time so that community engagement can be as accessible and equitable as possible, developing a process that will continue through 2020. We’ll work in phases, doing our best to bring the entire Boulder community along every step of the way.
Process Phase 1: Establish a Shared Understanding of What We Must Accomplish
Creating a shared understanding of the climate crisis in our community
Building knowledge about why we must center equity and resilience
Gaining collective support for involving as many perspectives as possible in identifying and implementing solutions.

Plan to Engage In-Person, Too
We’re planning meaningful in-person learning and engagement opportunities, led by the city and our partners. We’ll let you know about these via this email newsletter and our web resources.
We are so appreciative of your participation in this journey. While we’re proud of all the climate action our community has taken, it’s time for a new approach that will lead to an even more vibrant, resilient and equitable Boulder. The challenges ahead are unprecedented. We are learning alongside our community, and we’re sure to make mistakes along the way. With your help and contributions, we’re excited to begin this new chapter.
