Winners of the 2017 Hotdish Competition
Great Minnesota Hot Dish Competition – Vegan Brunch Edition
Have a delicious time at the 6th Annual Great Minnesota Hot Dish Competition – Vegan Brunch Edition on Saturday, October 13 starting at noon at Fuller Park Recreation Center, 48th St. and Grand Ave. in Minneapolis. Original and creative brunch recipes from area cooks will compete in two prize categories: Audience Favorite and Judge’s Choice.
Our judge’s panel includes Kara Jean Breci, founder of SoulSpace Farm Sanctuary, whose mission is to rescue and protect farmed animals from cruelty; Casey David Muir-Taylor, social media manager for St. Paul vegan restaurant J. Selby's and who started the Two City Vegans blog; and Katie Arndt, hardworking law student, dedicated Feline Rescue cat foster, and former ARC Volunteer Coordinator.
Support the Animal Rights Coalition’s work while tasting a variety of delicious brunch hot dishes for only $1 per sample. Free beverages will be provided and there will be lots of great door prizes.

ARC Volunteer Meeting
A lively volunteer meeting in September where we discussed how to be an effective communicator when advocating for animals
Processed People Film Screening and Volunteer Meeting
Join us on Wednesday, October 3, for the first volunteer meeting of the month and to view the 40-minute documentary, "Processed People." Learn from nine health and environmental experts what we can do to break the "processed people" cycle. Check out the trailer. 

After the screening, we'll discuss the film and talk about upcoming volunteer opportunities. Vegan drinks and snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own vegan drinks and/or snacks to share with the group. (If you arrive after we have started the film, please contact the number on the door of the store and we will come upstairs to let you in.)

You don't have to be an ARC member to attend these meetings (and you don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan either). You will be welcomed no matter where you are in your journey toward living a more compassionate life. Please join us. We'd like to get to know you, and the animals need your help!

ARC at the University of Minnesota Community Involvement Fair, which is attended by students who want to become more involved in the community
Doing Virtual Reality outreach at Open Streets Nicollet with videos about the lives of farmed animals
Chicken Run Rescue
Help get the chickens ready for winter on 10/27 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at our Chicken Run Rescue Volunteer Day. There will be a variety of tasks for all levels of strength and mobility and vegan refreshments will be provided. RSVP to Ashley Riddle as soon as possible as this popular event is limited to 20 people. CRR has been rescuing injured and abandoned chickens since 2001 and is located in the south metro area about 30 minutes from Minneapolis and St. Paul. CRR is a closed sanctuary open only to staff, volunteers, and invited guests. We will send out the exact address to those who RSVP prior to the event. We can help assist with carpools from the metro. Please indicate if you can take folks in your vehicle or if you need a ride.
Easy Peasy Plant-Based Cooking with Jackfruit
Sign up for our 10/28 Easy Peasy Plant-Based Cooking with Jackfruit cooking class at Mississippi Market to learn how to cook delicious recipes jackfruit, the versatile meat alternative. You’ll learn how to use it to make “crab” cakes and pulled “pork,” along with other tasty plant-based recipes.
10/14 Four Paws and a Tail demo on Facebook
10/14 and 10/28: Join ARC, Bailing out Benji, and Puppy Mill Free Minnesota for a peaceful protest against Four Paws and a Tail to oppose their purchase of animals from mass breeding facilities. Meet at the intersection of County Rd. 10 and Jefferson, on the grassy area in front of Chipotle, which is public property near Northtown Mall, 398 Northtown Drive NE in Blaine from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Signs will be provided.
