CASL "Get to Graduation" FundFor some CASL students, an unexpected expense of just a few hundred dollars can become a life-changing barrier, forcing them to pause their education or leave college altogether. The CASL “Get to Graduation” Fund empowers the CASL Dean to provide timely, targeted support to seniors facing financial hardship, ensuring that small financial challenges do not stand in the way of completing their degrees.
These critical resources help students cross the finish line, graduate on time, and begin their careers, changing the trajectory of their lives and the communities they will go on to serve. With funding here, CASL can ensure that financial setbacks never prevent deserving students from earning their degree and joining our family of Dearborn Wolverine Alumni.

CASL Study Abroad Fund
Study Abroad offers CASL students life-changing experiences, many traveling beyond Michigan for the first time. Students have explored France, Poland, Greece, Puerto Rico, Cyprus, Iceland, and more!
This past year students got to explore all things France, with French 340: France’s Sites of Memory couses where they traveled across France with Chancellor Gabriella Scarlatta, exploring historic landmarks that bring the nation’s history and culture to life. From Notre Dame and the Louvre to Versailles, the Normandy beaches, Mont Saint-Michel, and the Loire Valley castles, students saw firsthand how places shape France’s collective memory and identity.
The immersive experience deepened their understanding of history, culture, and global perspective while fostering curiosity, confidence, and engagement. As one student shared, “I would have never been able to travel outside of the U.S. if it weren’t for this program, thank you UM-Dearborn!"

CASL Faculty Research Support Fund

This fund supports essential research activities such as conference participation, publication fees, seed funding, professional memberships, and access to specialized datasets, while reinforcing our commitment to celebrating our faculty in their important and impactful research.

CASL Practice-Based Learning Strategic Initiatives FundPractice-based learning brings education to life by connecting classroom knowledge to real-world experience. Through hands-on projects, community engagement, and applied learning opportunities, CASL students develop the practical skills, confidence, and professional experience they need to succeed after graduation.
This fund supports essential elements of transformative learning, including course projects and materials, access to specialized equipment and facilities, guest speakers and industry events, and faculty training in innovative, student-centered and community-engaged teaching. These experiences allow students to apply theory in meaningful contexts, whether conducting research, analyzing data, creating digital content, or addressing real community challenges.

UM-Dearborn SOAR Support Fund
The SOAR program supports nontraditional adult learners pursuing their first bachelor’s degree, students often balancing school with work, family, and financial responsibilities. Many are returning to college to change careers, improve their economic opportunities, or become the first in their families to earn a Michigan degree.
SOAR provides holistic support tailored to adult learners, including textbook assistance, laptop loans, peer mentoring, academic guidance, and scholarship support. Students frequently share that the program made college feel possible and that without SOAR, completing their degree would have been out of reach.
Your support to the SOAR program ensures that adult, nontraditional, and first-generation students don’t navigate their educational journey alone.
