Ephrata Cloister Lantern Tours Remember Brother Amos
Brother Amos, a founding member of the Ephrata Community, will be the focus of the annual Lantern Tours held at Ephrata Cloister December 26 through 29.  Join us for these special role-playing tours presented by our Student Historians, a group of high school volunteers who bring history to life.   Participants will be invited to help reenact history by gathering the supplies around the site for a memorial Love Feast meal celebrating Brother Amos’ life.  One of those items will be a copy of the memorial published on the Ephrata printing press in 1783.  The original will be on exhibit in the Visitor Center.
A tradition at Ephrata Cloister was to create a Fraktur artwork in memory of deceased members.   The piece created for Brother Amos, on loan from the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center, will also be on exhibit.
Come discover the many elements of this early community, where the town of Ephrata began, and its contributions to history!
